10 Best Things to Come Out of Goodlife Innaloo

This is not an advertisement for Goodlife Innaloo by any means but as a fitness connoisseur and studying trends in the fitness industry over the past 16 years, I find it fascinating that so many incredible businesses and fitness personalities have come out of Goodlife Innaloo (previously Fitness First). Here’s the list below:

1) Shredded Health and Performance

With over 20 years industry experience each, Marty and Kel the owners of Shredded Health and Performance are about as educated and qualified as it gets (not only in Perth but worldwide). For as long as I’ve known them, Marty and Kel have been the leaders in the field. Their gym was voted as one of the top seven in the world by the Strength Coach GOAT, the late Charles Poliquin and they have the most educated team of trainers across the board.

In all fairness I could easily write up a follow up post titled “The Best Trainers to come out of Shredded Health and Performance” and it would be nothing but class.

2) Muscleworx

One of the biggest fitness industry businesses to ever come out of Perth is Muscleworx. Two of the original three founders were trainers at Fitness First Innaloo and began their career in supplements by selling to members and clients out of the back of their car. Not long after seeing an opportunity in the industry they opened the first official Muscleworx stores in Innaloo, Floreat and Cannington.

In such a short amount of time in probably the biggest acquisition in the history of the Australian supplement industry, the Muscleworx Group acquired Supplement Mart and Vitamin King and grew to over 40 stores across the country located in WA, SA and NSW.

3) Peak Body

Peak Body is the brain child of former Fitness First Personal Training Regional Manager Tony Merrick. If you remember the days of Fitness First in Perth, you’d surely remember and possibly trained at a Zest. And if you remember Zest, you’d possibly then remember Zest North Beach. During a time of change in Perth, many Zest locations were bought out and one of those became Peak Body North Beach.

Up until recently, Tony was one of their Directors and Head Coach but has now moved on and opened up his own boutique facility in Subiaco, Total Movement which is next on the list.

4) Total Movement

Opening its doors in late 2018, Total Movement is a boutique studio which will no doubt enter our Top Boutique Gyms in Perth list in the future. The newly fitted out chic studio offers a range of classes including, strength and conditioning, reformer pilates, yoga and meditation. It really is a one stop shop for your holistic health needs.

5) Athletic Revolution

Previously listed as one of the Top Boutique Gyms in Perth, Athletic Revolution is a Perth Fitfam favourite. Owned by former Goodlife Innaloo trainers Ant Usmar and Cam Carruthers, Athletic Revolution is a strength and fitness destination, with a perfect combination of group training classes and one on one coaching.

6) The Rev Barbell Club

Another incredible facility to open its doors late in 2018 is Athletic Revolutions’ bigger brother The Rev Barbell Club. Perth’s only standalone facility specifically dedicated to Olympic Lifting, The Rev Barbell Club is something special. Ant’s passion for Olympic Lifting can really be seen in the details of the fit-out, coaches and atmosphere at The Rev Barbell Club What the Rucci brothers and Rucci’s Gym have done for powerlifting in Perth, Ant and The Rev Barbell Club will no doubt do for Weightlifting.

7) Paulie Vu

If you’re into bodybuilding then you’ve definitely heard of Paulie Vu. Australia’s first IFBB Classic Physique Pro, Paulie Vu is about as popular as it gets in the bodybuilding scene in Perth. Mainly focusing on online coaching, Paulie has spent years in the industry increasing his knowledge and has even personally been coached by the world renown bodybuilding guru, Chris Aceto.

8) Result Based Training

Although the original RBTs came out of Victoria, the Perth chapter of Result Based Training is co-owned and operated by former Fitness First Innaloo trainer Ryan Dickson. A company built on bulletproof systems in helping their members get results, RBT has six locations spread across Perth and can be found in Balcatta, Canning Vale, East Perth, Joondalup, Morley and Myaree.

The RBT group has been so successful nationwide that many other boutique gym owners in Perth have been personally mentored by RBT Founder Travis Jones and helped them to also build successful, life changing businesses.

9) Fitness Renegades

Fitness Renegades founders and fitness couple Chaucer Shenton and Tarashakti Burke both spent time as trainers back in the Fitness First days. A boutique style group fitness gym focused on helping their clients reach their results through highly skilled coaching, body transformation formulas, nutrition programs, support structures, body composition tracking machines, personalised coaching and accountability checkpoints.

Running a successful business together with locations in Joondalup and Osborne Park, I would say keep your eyes peeled because there will be plenty more to come.

10) Premium Lifestyle Club Osborne Park

PLC Osborne Park also new to the scene in late 2018 is owned and operated by Ishy Nyandoro. Not only is he a trainer, but Ishy is also an accomplished lifter and has competed on the world stage of powerlifting and representing Australia at the 2017 World Classic powerlifting Championship in Belarus. PLC offers both group fitness strength and conditioning classes along with personal training.

Rhys Margan also came from Goodlife Innaloo. The man has been through many ups and downs and I feel
Deserves a lot of recognition for what he’s doing. Helping people achieve success but also by helping the homeless quite frequently.
